Wave goodbye to the UK and say hello to Kota Kinabalu!
Fly from London to Kota Kinabalu, via Kuala Lumpur.
Upon arrival on day 2, you’ll be transferred to Shangri-La Rasa Ria for 3 nights with breakfast included, a family-friendly beach resort framed by tropical rainforest and the South China Sea.
You will then have the next 2 days to spend at leisure. Enjoy your time unwinding on the beach or by the pool, or try resort activities such as kayaking, paddle boarding, a cooking class, or a bike tour. You can also add a day trip to Mount Kinabalu or white-water rafting for extra adventure.
Leave the beach and head to the jungle
This morning you will be transferred to Kota Kinabalu airport, where you will take a short domestic flight to Sandakan. On arrival, you will be met and transferred to MY Nature Resort for 2 nights on a half-board basis. Each chalet has a terrace overlooking the jungle, with a pool and 300m walkway to explore the rainforest.
Day 6 will be yours to enjoy some leisure time exploring boardwalks, visiting the Rainforest Discovery Centre’s canopy towers, or heading to the Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary. Optional night walks reveal Borneo’s nocturnal wildlife.
Meet sun bears and orangutans then cruise the Kinabatangan River
Today you will visit the world’s largest orangutan rehabilitation centre at Sepilok and the Sun Bear Conservation Centre, then cruise along the Kinabatangan River to Kinabatangan Wetlands Resort for 2 nights on a full-board basis.
The next 2 days will be filled with river safaris in the morning, afternoon and evening. Keep your eyes peeled as you look out for pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, and countless bird species.
Family time on Gaya Island
On day 9, you will be transferred by boat to Sandakan airport, where you will then catch your flight back to Kota Kinabalu. On arrival you will be met and transferred to Gaya Island Resort for your last 7 nights with breakfast included. Set in a marine park with a golden beach and lush rainforest backdrop, it’s ideal for both relaxation and activities: guided rainforest walks (included), snorkelling trips, mangrove kayaking, cooking classes and more (paid locally).
Spend six full days enjoying coral reefs, water sports, and the award-winning spa.
After a final morning on the island on day 16, take a boat and road transfer to the airport for your flight home.
