Work For Us

We love travel and we believe that people who love travel are brilliant at designing Sundowner holidays. Holidays that are about those moments that immerse you wholly into your surroundings. Drinking chai on a plastic stool by the roadside and being checked out by a cow. Running down a huge sand dune in the desert, arms like windmills. Watching an ancient city come to life with the sunrise. Hiking for hours through a rainforest to plunge into a natural pool. Kayaking on tropical seas to an island hideaway. Shopping in the market and cooking lunch for a local. Riding an elephant. Walking with a lion. Stroking a cheetah. Avoiding eye contact with a gorilla.
We’re always on the look-out for Travel Consultants. If you have a love of those ‘Sundowner Moments’ in travel then do get in touch. We are currently looking for staff for the following positions:
Admin/Sales/Travel Assistant
Latin America Designer – Experienced
Intern – 3 months from June 2024
Updated 25 January 2024. Closing date for applications: 6 February 2024.

Admin Assistant

Don’t be fooled by the very standard job title. This is a wide-ranging and important role that you can make your own. From helping to manage client holidays to assisting Holiday Designers with itineraries to chatting to clients before they go on holiday and helping with questions they may have. This is a job for someone passionate about travel who may be looking for a role that will set them on a career in the industry.

The vital requirements are:
- Highly organised with great attention to detail.
- Confident talking to clients on the phone.
- Confident using Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word.
- A love of travel – having travelled on your own for a few months or years or perhaps you’ve spent any opportunity taking short breaks to explore the world. We are particularly looking for people who have travelled in Africa, Asia or Latin America.

Other than that we are just after a positive can-do attitude. Nothing beats a happy office.

Often our Admin Assistants move into a Holiday Designer role. And this is the path that the successful candidate could follow. If this is what you're looking for then the time in the role of Admin Assistant can vary from 1 to 2 years – the timing will be all about you. Get stuck in, become part of the team and take the initiative to drive yourself forward and we will happily reward your hard work with a step up to the next rung on the ladder.

We are a small team, with a love of designing amazing holidays for our clients. To join us, please send your CV (that includes the places you have travelled) and a covering letter explaining why you are perfect for the job to careers@sundownerholidays.co.uk

Salary: £22,000-£25,000 depending on experience

Holiday Designers

Be part of our Holiday Designer team, at our office in central Shoreham by Sea near Brighton.

We are looking for experienced specialist travel consultants as well as trainees who are passionate about travel. If you have travelled in Africa, Latin America or Asia or worked in any role for a tailor-made travel company then we would love to hear from you.

Knowledge and first-hand experience of some of the destinations in Africa, Latin America or Asia is vital as you need to be able to talk about the areas and sights and know the moments that can really make a holiday to these areas one of the best.

By confidently talking and actively listening to clients over the telephone and via email, you will be adept at quickly gaining a good understanding of their holiday requirements, and then using that understanding to design and arrange every part of their, often very detailed, holiday. Attention to detail and fantastic organisational skills are therefore essential.

Added to that, we're looking for a positive attitude and the ability to express yourself clearly in writing. This is potentially a dream job, but its also a very demanding one. We work extremely hard, and overseas things do not always go to plan, so a proactive, positive and tenacious approach to problems is vital.

Dependent on skills and experience, the position may also involve product management of specific areas. This means liasing with ground agents, deciding which properties we feature on our website and in our itineraries, negotiating rates and inspecting hotels, guesthouses and camps.

If you are passionate about travel then we would love to hear from you. Please email your CV to careers@sundownerholidays.co.uk with your salary expectations and covering letter detailing your experience and what you are looking for or call James on 01273 923100 for more information.

Intern (3 months)

We offer a 3 month internship from June every year. The experience is ideal for someone looking to get their first job in the travel industry or who is considering a career in travel and wants to gain an insight into the work and opportunities available; as well as offering some very useful practical office experience.

You will be working alongside our marketing and admin assistant. Duties will include: pulling together travel packs, updating country information booklets, answering general client queries, checking itineraries, filing, post duties, destination research and more.

For the right person, we may progress the internship to a full-time admin position with the possibility of further career development to a holiday designer role should you show the correct aptitude.

The main qualities we look for are:

- passion for travel
- good attention to detail
- confident telephone manner
- advanced level of computer literacy
- strong organisation skills

Above all, you'll need a positive attitude. If you think this is you, then please send a CV and covering letter to careers@sundownerholidays.co.uk detailing why you think yourself suited to the job.

PLEASE NOTE: Due to high volumes of applications, we will only be in touch with applicants that have the right travel experience. If you are interested in learning more about the travel industry and do not have the right travel experience then please apply for our intern role.
