There’s a safari for everyone

Renowned for its diverse wildlife and stunning landscapes Kenya offers incredible safari experiences with stunningly scenic backdrops. The iconic Masai Mara National Reserve is a must-visit, renowned for the Great Migration, a spectacular annual event where millions of wildebeest, zebras, and gazelles embark on a perilous journey. If you would prefer to escape the crowds then head to Samburu or Laikipia. The latter offering a more exclusive safari experience with it’s private conservancies. Amboseli offers breathtaking views of Kilimanjaro and large elephant herds, while Lake Nakuru is a birdwatcher’s paradise, particularly for flamingos. These are both best combined with the Masai Mara, Samburu or Laikipia.

What can I see on a Kenya safari?

Kenya is one of Africa’s top safari destinations, renowned for its diverse landscapes and rich wildlife, including the Big Five in the Maasai Mara and the breathtaking Great Migration of wildebeest and zebras. Amboseli National Park offers stunning views of elephants against Mount Kilimanjaro, while Samburu National Reserve features unique species like Grevy’s zebra and reticulated giraffe. The Rift Valley Lakes, such as Lake Nakuru and Lake Naivasha, are birdwatching hotspots with vibrant flamingo populations. For a more secluded experience, Tsavo and Meru National Parks present unspoiled landscapes and abundant wildlife, ensuring unforgettable nature encounters.

When to go on a Kenya safari

The best time to visit Kenya for a safari is during the dry season, which falls between June and October. This is when wildlife is most visible due to less vegetation and the Great Migration is in full swing in the Masai Mara. However, the exact timing can vary slightly depending on rainfall patterns and other factors.

If you prefer fewer crowds and potentially lower prices, consider visiting during the shoulder seasons of March-May or November-December. Keep in mind that these periods may have some rainfall, which can impact game viewing conditions.
