It has been a wonderful time with lovely people who really wanted us to have a special time. We might even have to go back!

John and Mary Doig, Kenya

The trip was fantastic, an absolutely amazing experience. Obviously the reason we went was for the safari aspect and they were amazing particularly the Masai, such an abundance and range of animals to see.

Trevor Collins, Kenya

Our holiday to Kenya was amazing, we all voted it our best-ever trip. The Safari at Kichwa Tempo in the Masai Mara was everything we could have wished for, our guide Anne was excellent and great fun and all the staff looked after us so well. The beach was the best we’ve ever been on, clean, safe, clear water and a reef to snorkel on.

Diana Kverndal, Kenya

I was not prepared for what the Mara, the wildlife and the Masai people deliver in terms of the full and real safari experience. We had an amazing time and totally fell in love with Kenya.

Weather in Kenya

Kenya’s climate varies from tropical along the coast to temperate in the highlands and arid in the northern regions. The country experiences two main seasons: the green (rainy) season and the dry season. Whether you’re dreaming of witnessing the Great Migration, relaxing on white-sand beaches, or exploring lush forests, knowing Kenya’s weather patterns will help you plan an unforgettable trip.

The Green Season (March–May & November–December): A Lush Escape
Kenya’s green season is marked by short rains (November–December) and long rains (March–May). During this time, the landscapes turn vibrant green, and national parks are quieter, offering a more exclusive safari experience. Wildlife remains abundant, and birdwatching is exceptional as migratory species arrive. Some dirt roads may become muddy, especially in the Maasai Mara, but lush scenery and discounted lodge rates make this an appealing time for adventurous travelers.

The Dry Season (June–October & January–February): Prime Safari Time
The dry season is the best time for game viewing, as animals gather around water sources, making them easier to spot. This is also when the Great Migration takes place (July–October) in the Maasai Mara, a world-famous spectacle of thousands of wildebeest and zebras crossing the Mara River. Days are warm, averaging 25–30°C (77–86°F), while nights can be cooler, especially in highland areas like Nairobi and Amboseli. Coastal regions, such as Diani and Lamu, are perfect for beach getaways with clear skies and warm waters.

As the rains subside, Kenya enters its peak safari season. Water sources dwindle, drawing wildlife to rivers and waterholes, making it easier to spot lions, elephants, and other iconic species. Days are sunny and mild, with temperatures between 20–27°C (68–81°F), though mornings and evenings can be cool, particularly in July and August. This is the best time for game drives in the Maasai Mara, Amboseli, and Tsavo. The Great Migration also reaches the Mara between July and October. If travelling during this period, book well in advance, as lodges and camps fill up quickly.
