Fly from London to Sandakan, via Kuala Lumpur.

Upon arrival on day 2 you’ll be met and transferred to Sepilok for 2 nights on a half-board basis at MY Nature Resort, set on the edge of the tropical rainforest. Each traditional chalet has a large terrace overlooking the jungle, with a pool and a 300-metre walkway for spotting wildlife.

Spend day 3 at leisure: follow the resort’s boardwalks, visit the Proboscis Monkey Sanctuary in the mangroves, or walk to the Rainforest Discovery Centre to enjoy canopy views from the treetop towers. In the evening, you can join a night walk to see nocturnal animals.

Start your day with a visit to the world’s largest orangutan rehabilitation centre and the Sun Bear Conservation Centre before cruising the Kinabatangan River to Abai Jungle Lodge for 1 night with all meals included. Take an afternoon river safari in search of pygmy elephants, proboscis monkeys, and orangutans, followed by a guided night walk.

On day 5, wake early and join a dawn cruise to Pitas Lake, meet local villagers over lunch, before you continue by river to Sukau for 1 night at Kinabatangan Riverside Lodge on a full-board basis. Enjoy morning and afternoon cruises to track wildlife along the river and nature trails.

This morning you will be transferred to Sandakan airport, where you will catch your flight to Kota Kinabalu and stay 3 nights with breakfast included at The Jesselton Hotel. Spend the first evening browsing the night markets and sampling street food for dinner.

Day 7 brings an exhilarating white-water rafting adventure on the Padas River (or you could opt for a countryside cycling tour).

On day 8, you will be transferred to Kinabalu National Park for a trek along one of the trails, and end with a soak in the Poring hot springs. If you wanted, we could arrange a trek to Mount Kinabalu instead!

On day 9, you can enjoy a free morning either relaxing, or enjoy an optional Kiulu River zipline. You could also choose for to go out on a sightseeing tour in Kota Kinabalu. Later you will be met and transferred to the jetty were you will take a boat to Gaya Island Resort for 5 nights with breakfast. Set within a marine park with a golden beach and lush rainforest, this is the perfect place to relax.

You will then have 4 days to enjoy this beautiful area. You can enjoy complimentary guided nature walks. Or go snorkelling, kayak through mangroves, or simply unwind at the spa (all paid locally).

On day 14 you will be transferred to the airport for your flights home. Welcome back!
