Well, we are back to reality after a fabulous trip to Tanzania – very much a holiday of a lifetime and one we will never forget.

We were keen to see as many species of bird as possible and the guides were expecting this and each had amazing knowledge of where to find them. Not just that, but they made sure we also got to see many of the rest of the wildlife of the region - everything from amazing numbers of Impala, Giraffe, Elephant, Zebra, lions, Cheetah and Leopard, and even Wild Dog that we had hoped to see but doubted we would be so lucky!

We had an amazing time. Everything was brilliant (even the baboon leaving a gift on the bed in the Serengeti!). I think Nick’s highlight was the lion cubs. I loved all the safari, but seeing the turtles hatch in Pangani was truly awesome. All the accommodation was exactly what we had hoped for. I hadn’t realised we would have a tent on our first night as well.

Days 1 & 2 :

Fly from the UK to Dar es Salaam and begin your adventure with a light aircraft flight to Selous Game Reserve

Fly overnight from the UK to Dar es Salaam (via Doha).

On arrival, you will be met and assisted onto your light aircraft flight to the Selous Game Reserve, where you will spend 3 nights on safari at Rufiji River Camp, an authentic safari camp that is family-owned by Foxes Safaris. This camp is very nature-focused and commands a fantastic location overlooking the mighty Rufiji River.

Days 3 & 4 :

Two days packed with exciting game drives in Selous - Look out for the Big 5!

Two full days on safari in the Selous, a reserve packed with the Big 5 and particularly good for elephants, hippos, lions, and, if you’re lucky, the African wild dog! Day 5:

Bid farewell to Selous as you head to the tropical island of Zanzibar

Following a final morning game drive and breakfast in the bush, you will fly by light aircraft to the stunning island of Zanzibar, heading to the capital, Stone Town, where you will spend 2 nights at Zanzibar Coffee House, a charming little guesthouse in the heart of Stone Town with bags of character and, yes, you’ve guessed it, some pretty awesome home-grown coffee.

Day 6:

Spend a full day exploring the ancient wonders of Stone Town

Full day to explore the fascinating winding streets of Stone Town. We can also arrange lots of activities in and around Stone Town!

Day 7 :

Swap ancient streets for the beach as you transfer to the beautiful southeast coast of Zanzibar

This morning, you will be collected and transferred to the southeast coast to end your adventure with 7 nights at Mvuvi Boutique Hotel, a charming and exclusive hotel nestled on a private, white sandy beach. Days 8 - 13 :

Relaxing days on Zanzibar’s beautiful beaches

Six full days to relax and enjoy! With the sea being right on your doorstep, there are a number of water activities you could try – grab a stand-up paddleboard, go snorkelling, or, for the thrill-seeker, give kitesurfing a try. If you want to fully relax and unwind, head to the spa for a Swahili massage, take part in a yoga class overlooking the sea, or grab a book and sit by one of the two pools with a refreshing cold drink in hand. Head to Stone Town and wander through winding streets full of colour, enjoy a spice tour to taste and learn more about the fragrant spices of Zanzibar, or take a boat cruise to Mnemba Atoll! Or, you could simply grab a towel and stretch out on the beautiful beach. The true meaning of paradise!

Days 14 & 15 :

Say goodbye to Tanzania and head back to the UK

After a final day relaxing on the white sand of Zanzibar, you will be transferred back to Zanzibar Airport for your light aircraft flight back to Dar es Salaam. On arrival, you will connect with your flight to the UK (via Doha).
