DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: London to Cape Town
Fly overnight from the UK to Cape Town.

Day 2: Cape Town
On arrival into Cape Town you will collect your hire car and drive into the city, (enjoying the fantastic views of Table Mountain), to spend 4 nights in a 2 bed apartment in the V&A Waterfront – (STAY 4, PAY 3 from May to September) – the perfect location to visit the aquarium, take a spin on the Cape Wheel, take in a few drumming or singing busking groups, browse cool crafts, head out on a boat trip to Robben Island and visit restuarants. And don’t worry there is a pool for the kids to splash about in!

Days 3 – 5: Cape Town
Three free days to explore Cape Town and the Cape Peninsula. ! You can head to the Cape of Good Hope and the penguins at Boulders Beach, take the cable car up Table Mountain, sit in a restaurant at Camp’s Bay watching the world go by and much more. See our Cape Town guide.

Day 6: Cape Town to Hermanus
Drive to the stunning Whale Coast. From June to November you will have a chance to spot whales but this area is also worth a visit for some fun activities by the sea and as well as a visit to Betty’s Bay to see penguins. You will be staying for 3 nights in a 2 bed cottage on the Mosaic Sanctuary with breakfast basket included. Mosaic is perfect for families, with a pool, lots of space to run around and set on a lake with lots of activities available. If you would prefer to stay in the town of Hermanus, just let us know. Day 7-8: Hermanus
Two free days to explore this beautiful part of South Africa. With the sand dunes on one side of you and a view across the lake to towering mountains, this is a beautiful spot to hang out. There lots of activities to keep everyone happy – from quad-biking to SUP boarding to kayaking and sundowners on the sand dunes of Walker Bay. Or head to a local vineyard for a lazy lunch sampling wines!

Day 9: Hermanus to Sun City
An early start today as you fly from Cape Town to Johannesburg where you will collect your hire car and drive approx. 2 hours to the kids wonderland of Sun City. Not to everyone’s taste but definitely a kids highlight, you will be staying at The Palace of the Lost City for 2 nights in a Superior Luxury Family Room with breakfast included. Spend the rest of the day in the waterpark – right next to your hotel. If this is not your style then talk to us about other options such as a few days in the Winelands or an extra day on safari. We know the best places for families, having travelled many times with our own children in South Africa.

Day 10: Sun City
A full day to enjoy Sun City! With hundreds of Sun City activities on offer, there are so many things to do in Sun City. From water-sports, mountain bike trails, adrenaline-fuelled adventures, golf, waterparks, spa, etc……..Sun City has something for everyone to enjoy.

Day 11: Sun City to Madikwe
Today you will drive 2 hours to Madikwe. A firm favourite with families, the malaria-free Madikwe is a Big Five game reserve covering some 75,000 hectare. It is one of the largest game reserves in South Africa with a rich diversity of vegetation ensuring a wide range of game and ideal wildlife viewing opportunities! This is probably the best non-malarial safari area in South Africa. You will be statying at Tau Game Lodge in a Two Bed Family Unit with all meals and game drives included. This afternoon you’ll head out on your first family safari!

Days 12 & 13: Big Five Madikwe Safari
Two full days to enjoy tracking game on morning and afternoon Big Five safari drives in Madikwe. You will be woken early to head out on safari for approx. 3 hours and head out again after brunch, a spot of relaxing by the pool and a freshly baked high tea. The animals prefer the cool of the morning or late afternoon. You are likely to encounter lion, elephant, rhino, buffalo, cheetah, giraffe, zebra, wildebeest, monkeys, tortoise and plenty of antelope species. Talk to us about whether your children are ready for a safari.

Day 14: Madikwe to the UK
After a final morning safari and a hearty breakfast you will drive 4hrd to Johannesburg Airport, drop your hire car and fly back to the UK.

Day 15: Home
