Sundowner have designed four holidays for us so far, with a fifth planned for November. Our latest holiday was in Thailand and Cambodia, and we have also travelled to Tanzania, Japan and Madagascar with the company. The holiday consultants listen to what we want and tailor our holidays to suit us. We have stayed in some magnificent places and enjoyed lots of cultural, historic and wildlife experiences. We would also like to mention that they deal with any issues professionally and are always available when needed. We would highly recommend Sundowner for tailor-made holidays and are very much looking forward to our trip to Peru in November.

Rosemary & Christopher, Vietnam and Cambodia

We are so glad we chose Sundowner. The hassle was taken out of everything so all we had to do was sit back and enjoy. Lucy was amazing and bent over backwards to incorporate all our requests to build an itinerary to get as much out of the trip as possible. Cannot fault anything. Everything happened seamlessly and the guides used locally were incredibly knowledgeable, we never had to wait around for a driver to collect us between destinations, the hotels were well chosen and over and above our expectations. I would have no hesitation in recommending and will use for future trips.

Dawn, Vietnam & Cambodia

Thank you all for making our 30th wedding anniversary holiday celebration. We loved it to bits the warmth of the Vietnamese and Cambodians was inspiring, the culture and geography simply breath-taking and the attentiveness of the staff in general was excellent.

Dave and Jo Carter, Vietnam and Cambodia

We had the most fantastic trip to Vietnam with Sundowner. Andrew was very personable and worked with us to ensure we had a tailor-made and varied trip to suit our family. Highlights included the street food tour in Hanoi and cooking school in Hoi An. Everything ran perfectly and all the transfers, guides, hotels and excursions were fantastic - we wouldn’t have changed a thing! This was our second trip with sundowners and it certainly won’t be our last!

Juliet Reid, Vietnam

I would have no problem recommending this company to anyone who wants to go somewhere they have never been. They have lots of knowledge and experience in pulling a fantastic holiday together.

Rhiannon Dunne, Vietnam

Everyone had the most fantastic time and will certainly treasure all the great memories. The guides were outstanding. They all were very engaging and informative. We certainly learnt a lot. The hotels were great, and the beach was just what was needed after a hectic but most enjoyable schedule.

Julia Plumb, Vietnam

Thank you for a wonderful trip. The schedule ran like clockwork, all meet, and greets were prompt and of an exceptional standard. The hotels were just as we had imagined, all slightly different, small and very friendly in great locations.

This boutique gem is tucked in a quiet street yet just minutes from Hanoi’s Old Quarter and Hoan Kiem Lake. With stylish interiors, warm service, and a serene atmosphere, it offers the perfect blend of charm and comfort.

Enjoy a relaxed afternoon before heading out for a guided evening vintage vespa tour, tasting sizzling bun cha and Vietnamese pancakes among Hanoi’s vibrant alleyways. Or ask us to swap this to a walking street food tour if you prefer – we can tailor this holiday to you.

Want something more exclusive? Ask us about arranging a private rooftop dinner with city views.

Elegant boutique hotel room at Aira Boutique Hanoi, featuring a king-sized bed with white canopy, dark wood accents, velvet blue seating, and French balcony overlooking leafy trees.
Day 3:

Explore Hanoi’s heritage & hidden corners

Today, discover the elegant blend of old and new in Vietnam’s capital on a Private City Tour with your expert local guide. Begin at the Temple of Literature – Vietnam’s first national university dating back to 1070 – and continue to the Ho Chi Minh Mausoleum complex, including the Presidential Palace and the simple stilt house where “Uncle Ho” lived.

Wander through the French Quarter with its colonial facades and leafy boulevards before a relaxed lunch in a local cafe. In the afternoon, visit the Vietnam Museum of Ethnology or take a cyclo ride through the bustling “36 Streets” of the Old Quarter.

Prefer a deeper cultural dive? Ask us to include a cookimg class with a local family or a half-day photography walk with a local artist. Tonight, we recommend trying cha ca (Hanoi’s signature turmeric fish dish).

Days 4 - 5:

Cruising around the emerald waters of Ha Long Bay, admiring its towering limestone Karsts

Depart early for Ha Long Bay (approx. 3.5 hrs). Board the traditional-style Peony Cruise for an overnight cruise through this UNESCO seascape. Your en-suite cabin has large windows for uninterrupted views.

Sail past jungle-clad limestone islands, kayak into hidden coves, and enjoy a seafood dinner on deck as the sun sets over the bay. A unique and peaceful way to experience one of Vietnam’s natural wonders. If time allows we’d recommend adding another night here – ask us to tailor this tour to you.

The following day, wake early for optional tai chi on deck and breakfast with a view before cruising back to port.

Return to Hanoi and fly south to Hue, Vietnam’s former imperial capital. Check in for 2 nights at Pilgrimage Village, a peaceful retreat set in lush gardens.

With its relaxed pace, vibrant markets, and glowing lanterns, Hoi An invites you to wander, shop, taste and soak up the atmosphere.

There, you’ll pick fresh herbs, grind spices, and prepare authentic dishes like cao lau and green mango salad, enjoying them for lunch in a peaceful garden setting.

The next day, take a guided cycling tour through the surrounding countryside. You’ll pedal along quiet backroads through rice paddies, water buffalo fields and sleepy villages. Stop to meet local artisans and farmers, including a visit to a family-run mat weaving house and a boatbuilder’s yard. You can even help plant vegetables in an organic herb garden. Immersing yourself into local living on the Mekong Delta

The Mekong Delta is one of Southeast Asia’s most fertile and culturally rich regions, a vast patchwork of rice paddies, canals, and floating markets where river life shapes every aspect of daily rhythm. Expect a slower pace, warm hospitality, and an intimate glimpse into traditional Vietnamese life.

On your full day, enjoy a boat cruise through canals and a visit to a coconut farm. Immerse yourself in river life, relax and watch the world go by, or cross the river to My Tho on a bicycle.
