Sat on a hilltop at 2,400 feet, only 18kms south of Kandy, Ellerton is a beautiful boutique retreat set on a 9 acre tea and spice plantation with a charming colonial character and magnificent views of the Kandyan Mountains.  Originally the plantation manager’s residence built in 1910, it has been lovingly restored & renovated by the owners, Richard and Cary Goode, and from its stunning location it offers the perfect blend of comfort, relaxation, friendly hospitality and a flavour of rural Sri Lanka.

With cosy colonial character throughout the property, there are just 8 rooms at Ellerton which are split with 3 in the Main House, 3 in the separate Valley House and 2 individual self contained Garden Rooms.

The main house was the original plantation manager’s house built over 100 years ago and its character is retained throughout the comfy sitting room, library, study and 3 en suite guest bedrooms, with antiques, traditional furniture and a charming colonial decor. A perfect option for families, two of the rooms in the main house have smaller adjoining rooms.

The Valley House is a new separate annexe next to the swimming pool which maintains a colonial charm but with a more contemporary edge in 3 en suite guest rooms and a lovely shady veranda which is a great spot for a read, game of backgammon or lazy family lunch. The Garden Rooms are also a new additional with a similar style to the Valley House and with a lounge area and unrivalled views of the valley from the private balcony is a lovely option for those seeking a bit more privacy.

With its “home away from home” atmosphere, friendly staff and tranquil location the order of the day at Ellerton is very much about relaxation and there is no better place than the stunning infinity pool with its views down the valley. However if you can muster a bit of energy there are numerous walking & mountain bike trails which are highly recommended to get a feel for this beautiful area – please note you will struggle not to be accompanied by Ben the Labrador!
