combination of some wonderfully unique family friendly boutique hotels, this 12 day private tour of Sri Lanka allows you to discover the ancient kingdoms from a working fruit farm, explore Kandy from a 100 year old hill retreat, cycle through rural Galle from a country estate surrounded by rice plantations and finally play on the beautiful tropical beaches from your own fully staffed beach villa overlooking the Indian Ocean.
Day 1: UK to Colombo
Fly overnight from the UK to Colombo.
Day 2: Negombo
On arrival you will be met by your driver/guide and transferred in your private vehicle a short distance towards Negombo where you will spend 1 night in the family suite at the Wallawwa, a stunning boutique retreat which is a fantastic start to any Sri Lanka holiday with its beautiful grounds, relaxed atmosphere, lovely little spa (junior spa available!) and excellent Asian-fusion cuisine.
Days 3: Negombo to Cultural Triangle

You will then head for 3 nights at Jim’s Farm Villa, an independently owned eco-retreat on a large coconut and spice plantation that offers beautiful surroundings, friendly service and a great selection of activities – we particularly love the cooking classes with the farm chef and cycling to the nearby local temples.
Day 4: Cultural Triangle
This morning you will head to the incredible Dambulla Cave Temples, a UNESCO World Heritage site and the largest temple cave complex in Sri Lanka.
This afternoon you will return to Jim’s Farm Villa for a swim and relaxing afternoon. For a bit of fun you may want to the take the farm’s tuk-tuk for a spin around the farm!
Day 5: Cultural Triangle
This morning you will be collected by your guide and driven to the iconic Rock Fortress of Sigiriya to enjoy a guided tour of this fascinating UNESCO complex and a hike to the top to enjoy the stunning scenery. Day 6: Cultural Triangle to Kandy
This morning you will be driven south to the scenic city of Kandy, heading to the UNESCO Temple of the Tooth and Royal Palace where you will enjoy a guided tour and walk by Kandy Lake.
You will then continue 45mins south of the city to spend 2 nights in a family room at Ellerton, a beautiful owner run boutique hotel hidden in the hills with wonderful views and a home away from home atmosphere – a firm Sundowner favourite!
Day 7: Kandy
Full day to relax and enjoy Ellerton. Perfectly suited for a day round the pool with a lazy lunch, there are also some lovely local excursions such as a tour to the Orange Field Tea Factory, mountain biking and numerous hiking trails with Ben the dog!
Day 8: Kandy to Galle
A long drive today will take you to the south west of the island, heading to Galle to spend 2 nights in 2 Garden Villa suites at the relaxing Why House, a family friendly country retreat set in beautiful surroundings with first class hospitality, wonderful food and a great location only minutes from the beaches of Galle.
Day 9: Galle
Full day to relax and explore. During your stay you can take a guided bike ride, enjoy a cooking class, take an elephant ride, try some traditional dancing, explore Galle Fort or simply relax and enjoy the house.
Days 10: Galle to Thalpe Beach
Continuing a short distance south to the beautiful beach of Thalpe you will end your adventure with 3 nights on an exclusive basis at 23 Palm, a chic private 3 bedroom villa set in 2 acres of grounds with a beautiful pool, a private chef to prepare your meals and stunning ocean views.
Day 11 & 12: Thalpe Beach
Two full days to relax on the Indian Ocean. You will find it hard to leave the villa but only a short tuk-tuk ride away you have Galle Fort which is well worth an explore and Unawatuna Beach with a good selection of beach restaurants. Day 13: Colombo to UK
After a final dip in the pool and breakfast in the garden you will be transferred north to Colombo Airport for your flight back to the UK.
