Food
Meals at Why House are relaxed but full of flavour. Breakfast is generous — fresh tropical fruit, homemade jams, hoppers, eggs how you like them, plus strong coffee or tea. Lunches might be a light curry, grilled seafood, or a salad of garden greens. Dinners are three-course and candlelit, with a blend of Sri Lankan and European dishes, often tailored to guest preferences. There’s no set menu — just daily offerings based on what’s fresh and seasonal. The team is always happy to accommodate dietary requests, and meals can be taken by the pool, under the stars, or in the garden pavilion.

Why House is as much about slowing down as it is about exploring. Spend mornings by the pool, then head out for a walk to the nearby beach — Dalawella is a 15-minute stroll and perfect for paddling or watching local fishermen. The staff can organise tuk-tuk rides into Galle Fort, surf lessons at nearby breaks, or boat trips to spot whales (seasonal). Yoga sessions and in-room massages can be arranged on request, and bicycles are available for gentle rides through the surrounding village. Children love the open lawns and visiting monkeys, and adults often find the rhythm of life here hard to leave behind.
