On arrival, you will be met by your driver/guide and transferred in your private vehicle 2 hours east to spend 2 nights at the Rosyth Estate, a family-owned tea and rubber estate with a beautifully refurbished 7 bedroom planters bungalow set on a hill with stunning views of the surrounding plantations. Spend the afternoon exploring the estate or relaxing by the pool.

You will have a full day at leisure to relax or head out to discover more of this beautiful area! You could visit the estate’s vegetable garden, before joining a morning cooking class to use the ingredients you have just picked from the garden. Grab a bicycle to explore the local area on two wheels, if you’re feeling adventurous, then you could go white water rafting, or simply grab a lounger and relax by the pool. Remember, this is just a starting point idea to give you a flavour of what we can do.

Setting off this morning you will head into the heart of the Cultural Triangle, starting with a guided cycling tour of the ancient kingdom of Polonnaruwa. A UNESCO World Heritage site it was the second capital of Sri Lanka after the destruction of Anuradhapura in 993 and contains some incredible well-preserved stupas, temples and Buddha statues. You will also get to pay a visit to the Dambulla Rock Cave Temple – the largest and best-preserved cave temple complex in Sri Lanka!

Heading towards Sigiriya you will spend 2 nights at Vil Uyana, a beautiful eco hotel with a selection of luxurious “dwellings” spread out amongst its own nature reserve with views of Sigiriya Rock – we particularly love the stylish sundowner lounge and tucking into a delicious Sri Lankan curry on the deck of your private dwelling!

This morning you will be collected by your guide and driven to the iconic Rock Fortress of Sigiriya to enjoy a guided tour of this fascinating UNESCO complex and a hike to the top to enjoy the stunning scenery. After lunch you will head to Minneriya or Kaudulla National Park for a jeep safari – keep an eye out for elephants!

This morning you will continue south to Kandy to spend 2 nights at the Elephant Stables, a chic boutique guesthouse with amazing views over the surrounding mountains, an incredible pool and a very cool tented suite which is huge! Settle in this afternoon and grab a dip in the pool.

The next day you will enjoy a guided tour of Kandy, starting with the UNESCO Temple of the Tooth and Royal Palace, followed by a walk around Kandy Lake. You will then continue to the Kandy Royal Botanical Gardens which contains over 4000 species of plant.

Today will be driven 7km south of Kandy to Station where you will board the train south through the stunning tea plantations and many local villages to the hill station of Nuwara Eliya where you will spend 2 nights at Oliphant Bungalow, a luxury villa surrounded by lush tea estates, beautifully kept gardens, and a backdrop of stunning mountains. Spend the rest of the afternoon settling in to your new surroundings!

The next day is at your leisure to explore this beautiful region with your guide and vehicle at your disposal. No trip is complete to this region without a visit to a tea factory and if you are feeling active we definitely recommend a nature hike in the Horton Plains National Park to the “Worlds End”!

A long but beautiful drive today will take you from the heart of the Tea Country to the south west of the island where you will end your holiday with 3 nights at the relaxing Why House, a country retreat set in beautiful surroundings with first class hospitality, wonderful food and a great location only minutes from the beaches of Galle.

Two days to relax and explore. During your stay you can head by tuk-tuk to the beautiful Galle beaches, take a guided bike ride, enjoy a cooking class, explore Galle Fort or simply relax and enjoy Why House. You could also head out onto the water for a whale and dolphin watching tour!

Following a final breakfast in the fort you will be transferred north to Colombo Airport for your flight back to the UK. Or add-on a few nights at the beach for a relaxing end to your holiday.
