On day three, you will discover two of Sri Lanka’s most iconic cultural landmarks on a private full day excursion. Climb the ancient rock fortress of Sigiriya, with its remarkable frescoes and sweeping views across the surrounding countryside, before visiting the atmospheric Dambulla Cave Temples, home to centuries-old Buddhist murals and an impressive collection of statues.

On day four, you will travel south to Kandy, Sri Lanka’s historic hill capital, for an overnight stay at Mountbatten Bungalow. Set within peaceful gardens overlooking the surrounding hills, this elegant colonial-style retreat offers a tranquil escape close to the city. Your Sri Lankan safari begins as you travel east to Gal Oya National Park, where you will spend two nights at Wild Glamping Gal Oya. Surrounded by forest and wilderness, this intimate tented camp combines an immersive nature experience with comfortable, eco-conscious accommodation.

During your stay, you will enjoy a boat safari on Senanayake Samudraya, Sri Lanka’s largest reservoir, where you may encounter elephants along the shoreline and a variety of birdlife. You can also choose from guided jungle walks, cycling, village visits and opportunities to learn about the traditions and culture of the local Vedda community.

Continue south to Waraka Udawalawe, where you will spend two nights close to Udawalawe National Park. This peaceful boutique retreat is surrounded by nature and provides a relaxing base between your wildlife experiences.

You will explore the park on a 4×4 jeep safari, travelling through open grasslands, forest and wetlands in search of Sri Lankan elephants, water buffalo, deer and a variety of birdlife. You will also visit the Elephant Transit Home, which cares for orphaned and injured elephants before preparing them for release back into the wild.

Today, you will travel to the south coast, where you will spend three nights at Deewara Mawella. Set close to the peaceful sands of Mawella Beach, this intimate coastal retreat offers a laid-back setting in which to slow down and enjoy your final days in Sri Lanka.
