Tour itinerary

Days 1 - 4:

Fly overnight from the UK to the stunning city of Cape Town and settle into your boutique guesthouse at the foot of Table Mountain

Fly overnight from the UK to Cape Town.

Upon arrival on day 2, you will collect your car and drive into the city where you will check in to Derwent House for 3 nights with breakfast included. A warm and colourful guesthouse at the foot of Table Mountain, the Afro-chic design and small details make it the perfect city base.

Over the next few days, explore at your own pace. Take the cable car up Table Mountain, browse local markets, and drive the epic Cape Peninsula route — think penguins, beach picnics and cliffside views.

Days 5 - 7:

Franschhoek: wine country slow-down

This morning you will head to the Franschhoek Valley, a peaceful haven of vineyards and Cape Dutch charm. Your home for the next 3 nights with breakfast included is Avondrood Guesthouse, a stylish retreat that mixes colonial elegance with modern comfort.

You will now have 2 full days to explore award-winning estates, relax in cafés, and ride the scenic Wine Tram between tastings. You could head out on bicycle rides and soak up the views of the beautiful vineyards from two wheels. If your visit falls over a weekend, head to the Franschhoek village market on Saturday, and spend your afternoons relaxing and cooling off by the pool.

Days 8 & 9:

Victoria Falls: spray, safari & stargazing

Drive back to Cape Town today, where you will drop off your hire car and catch a flight to Zimbabwe. On arrival, you will be transferred to Victoria Falls, where you will stay for 2 nights with breakfast at Ilala Lodge. This luxury hotel welcomes you with colonial charm and lush gardens, and is just a short walk from Victoria Falls. Enjoy dinner with the rumble of the water in the distance as zebra mill around on the lawn.

Day 9 is yours to fill at leisure: walk through the rainforest mist trails, take a helicopter ride above the gorge, or try white-water rafting, rhino tracking or a sunset cruise on the Zambezi. And of course, don’t forget to head to the mighty ‘Smoke that Thunders’ – you can either explore the Falls at your own pace, or take a guided tour from the hotel.

Days 10 - 13 :

Hwange: wild north to classic savannah

This morning you will head back to the airport, where you will then board a light aircraft flight into Hwange National Park, one of Africa’s least crowded safari destinations. Your first stop is Deteema Springs, a remote tented camp set beside a permanent spring. You will stay here for 2 nights on a full-board basis.

Day 11 is for exploring Hwange as you head out on game drives and walking safaris.

On day 12, you will head south through the park with game viewing and a picnic en route, arriving at Verney’s Camp where you will stay 2 nights on a full-board basis. Located on a large open floodplain surrounded by teak forests, tents at the camp combine comfort with modernity.

You will head out to explore on day 13 – enjoy expertly guided game drives, walking safaris and night drives. Keep your eyes peeled for sightings of cats, big elephant herds and potentially African wild dogs,

You will enjoy a final morning game drive on day 14, before you take a light aircraft back to Victoria Falls and connect with your flight home.
