Tour itinerary
Arrival, lemurs & jungle nights in Andasibe
Depart the UK this morning and fly to Madagascar (via Paris). On arrival in Antananarivo, transfer to Au Bois Vert, a rustic hideaway set within a private nature estate near the airport, where you will stay for 1 night with breakfast included.
The next morning, travel around 4 hours east to Relais de Mantadia, a stylish rainforest lodge nestled on the edge of Mantadia National Park, where you will stay for 3 nights with breakfast included.
You will then have 2 full days with a private guide to explore the rainforests of Analamazaotra and Mantadia National Parks. Search for Madagascar’s famous indri lemurs, enjoy nocturnal forest walks and visit nearby community reserves, where you may spot a variety of lemur species, chameleons and colourful birdlife.
On day 5, return to the capital for a night at La Varangue with breakfast included. One of Antananarivo’s most characterful boutique hotels, La Varangue combines elegant colonial charm with a renowned restaurant. This afternoon, explore the historic upper town with your guide, including the cobbled streets and the Queen’s Palace, while enjoying panoramic views across the city.
Amber Mountain & Ankarana Reserve
Fly north to Diego Suarez this morning and on arrival, you will transfer to The Litchi Tree in Joffreville where you will stay for 2 nights on a half-board basis.
Head out on day 7 with your local guide to explore Amber Mountain National Park. Walk along its misty trails looking out for tiny chameleons and up to seven lemur species as you go!
On day 8, you will be driven south via the Red Tsingy to Relais des Ankarana for 1 night with breakfast included. A rustic guesthouse, it is ideally located for access to the Ankarana Reserve. This afternoon, you will hike through dry forest and tsingy formations to spot lemurs and reptiles.
Don your explorer’s hat on day 9 for cave adventures with blind shrimp and bats, before continuing to Iharana Bush Camp for 2 nights on a half-board basis. An eco-lodge by the water with stunning tsingy views, you are right in the middle of nature.
Beach bliss, diving & whale watching before heading home
After a final tsingy hike, travel to the port of Ankify and take a boat across to Nosy Sakatia. Spend 4 nights at Sakatia Lodge (with breakfast included) a laid-back beachfront retreat with excellent snorkelling, walking tours and diving.
You will have 3 full days at leisure. Swim with turtles just offshore, explore nearby islands, or simply enjoy some time stretched out on the sand. Between July and September, you might spot migrating whales!
On day 15 you will be transferred to the airport for your flight back to Antananarivo.
