Tour itinerary
Arrival and your first lemur encounters
Fly this morning from the UK to Antananarivo (via Paris).
On arrival, you will be met and transferred to spend 1 night with breakfast included at Au Bois Vert, a rustic hotel that is near the airport, but also set in its own nature estate, and featuring traditional bungalows.
The next morning on day 2, you will travel east by private 4×4 with your guide to Andasibe and head to Relais de Mantadia where you will stay for the next 2 nights on a half-board basis. This hotel perfectly blends nature with comfortable and modern rooms, and it is only 5 minutes from Analamazaotra Park. This afternoon you will visit Lemur Island.
On day 3, you will spend a full day exploring Analamazaotra, Mantadia and Mitsinjo Reserve — prime territory for the Indri, as well as leaf-tailed geckos and giraffe-necked weevils.
Into the highlands and rainforest again
Today you will have a long day on the road, however some amazing views await! Head south along the RN7 to the highland city of Antsirabe for 1 night with breakfast included at Couleur Café, a friendly guesthouse near the centre.
From ring-tailed lemurs to rocky canyons
Journey south today with stops in Ambalavao and the Anja Reserve — home to the iconic ring-tailed lemurs. You will then continue to spend 2 nights on a half-board basis at Relais de la Reine, a charming stone lodge at the edge of Isalo National Park.
On day 8 you will spend a full day hiking the park’s sandstone formations and canyons. Look out for Verreaux’s sifaka and Malagasy rainbow frogs, and swim in a natural pool on the “Cascade of the Nymphs” trail.
Indian Ocean views and baobab trails before you head home
Continue to the coast with your driver today, stopping via the traditional Mahafaly tombs. You will then continue to Ifaty where you will spend 4 nights with breakfast included at Hotel La Mira, a relaxed beach lodge with ocean-facing bungalows, an excellent pool and friendly atmosphere.
You will then have 3 days at leisure. Enjoy beach downtime, snorkelling, pirogue excursions, mountain biking or seasonal whale watching. Don’t miss a visit to the Reniala Reserve, home to extraordinary baobab trees.
On day 13 you will fly from Tulear to Antananarivo, where you will then proceed to connect with your flight back home.
