DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: UK to Liberia  
Fly from the UK to Liberia.
On arrival into Liberia you will be met and privately transferred approx. 3hrs to begin your Costa Rica adventure with 5 nights at Arenal Kioro Suites & Spa. This luxurious hotel offers magnificent views of the Arenal Volcano whilst being surrounded by 11 hectares of flourishing gardens and crystalline waters. Enjoy the rest of the afternoon settling into your new surroundings and head to the pool for a refreshing swim. Welcome to Costa Rica!

Day 2: Arenal 
This morning you will head up to the highest point of the mountain by Sky Tram and be greeted with magnificent views of the rainforest, volcano and lake! Then, your first adrenaline adventure will begin, as you zipline through the treetops across a system of zip wires – take in the views as you skim through the tops of the trees. Head back to the hotel this afternoon. You could head straight back to the pool to relax, or there are activities on offer – join a sunset cruise on the Arenal Lake, enjoy a hike to the Fortuna Waterfall, head to the hot springs water park, kayaking, quad biking and more! There is plenty to keep you all entertained!

Day 3: Arenal 
The exciting adventures continue today as you head out on a white water rafting tour on the Balsa river! Paddle through rolling rapids as you take in the surrounding scenery and look out for wildlife as you go. There will even be a chance to stop and enjoy a dip in the river pools – the perfect way to combine adventure and nature! 

Day 4: Arenal
Enjoy a leisurely morning at the hotel. This afternoon you will be collected to join a guided group sloth tour! Arenal is well known for its diverse wildlife, which include two different sloth species. These unique animals are becoming the iconic symbol of the country’s amazing rainforest wildlife – on your tour you will learn all about their behaviour, life and habits from a highly knowledgeable guide. Don’t forget your binoculars and cameras!   

Day 5: Arenal
Early this morning, you will be collected and transferred to join a group natural history walk on the Arenal Hanging Bridges. The impressive set of bridges and paths are at a great height, ensuring spectacular views and offering impressive views of the volcano. Make sure you bring your binoculars along with you as this is also a great opportunity to spot some wildlife – such as a range of birds and howler monkeys. Head back to the hotel after you’ve walked through the tree tops to enjoy your last night in Arenal. 

Day 6: Arenal to Tamarindo 
Today you will be collected and transferred approx. 4 hrs to Capitan Suizo, where you will spend the next 7 nights on the beach. This beautiful hotel is set directly on the beach and is the perfect tropical hideaway. Welcome to a week of relaxation! Want to add in a stop along the way? Talk to us about where else you could go before you head to the beach.

Days 7-12: Tamarindo
You will have 6 full days at leisure at the beautiful Capitan Suizo hotel! Make good use of the hotel pool and enjoy easy access to the beach, which is just footsteps away from your room. 

You could all grab a kayak and go out kayaking as a family, or for anyone that is interested in giving surfing a try, you can book some surfing lessons in through your hotel. Tamarindo is the quintessential destination for learning to surf so if you have always wanted to try but have never had the chance, you can give it a go now! For a more calm approach to the sea waves, boogie boards are free to hire, or grab a snorkel to explore the marine life underneath the water’s surface! 

For anyone interested in walking, the beach is the perfect place for a stroll (or maybe even a jog), or you could of course simply grab a deck chair and a book and set up on the sand for the day. Outdoor table tennis and pool tables are available for anyone who might get bored of laying out on the sand for the day! Exciting excursions can be organised through the hotel if you fancy getting off the beach one day. They include Horseback Riding, Quad Biking and a Canopy Tour of the nearby tropical Dry Forest. Just a 10 minute walk along the beach from the hotel is Tamarindo town which offers a great choice of shops, cafes and restaurants. We particularly love the shrimp tacos at Little Lucha! 

Sunsets in Tamarindo are incredible and you will have plenty of opportunities to enjoy them. Whether it’s lying on the beach together after a full day exploring the local area, watching from a sailing boat as you explore the bay, or enjoying a sundowner after your dinner, it’s a great way to create lasting family memories! 

Days 13-14: Home
This morning you will be collected and transferred by private vehicle approx. 90 mins to Liberia International Airport to check in for your flight back to the UK. Welcome home! Have a few more days to be on holiday? Speak to us about what else you want to include in your trip.
