DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: UK to  San Jose 
Fly from the UK to San Jose.
On arrival into San Jose you will be met and privately transferred to Hotel Presidente to spend 1 night. This characterful hotel is located at the heart of San Jose just walking distance from the iconic landmarks, bars and restaurant. Enjoy the rest of your day soaking up the atmosphere and exploring this exciting city. Welcome to Costa Rica!

Day 2: San Jose to Turrialba
This morning you will be collected for your shared transfers to the region of Turrialba where you will spend 2 nights at Casa Turire. This charming estate is set by the Reventazon River and the Turrialba Mountains offering spectacular and dramatic views with a serene atmosphere. Take a walk through the local garden and spot tropical birds such as toucans, oropendolas and parakeets.

Day 3: Turrialba
Today is filled full of adventure and fun. You’ll be collected for a full day white water rafting tour on Pacuare River, one of the top five rivers in the world for white water rafting, offering 18 miles of rafting across rapids surrounded by some of the most breath-taking scenery. You will also stop for a gentle hike to waterfalls and perhaps spot some wildlife. By the end of the day you will know this area like a Tico! Rafting not for you? Day 4: Turrialba to the Arenal 
This morning you will be met and collected for your shared transfer to Arenal area. Famous for its mighty active Arenal volcano, this area has much more to offer. Plenty of well guided hikes and activities to keep you busy for weeks. You will spend 3 nights at Arenal Springs Resort and Spa, a hotel that is the perfect combination of relaxation, comfort and tropical scenery with incredible view of the Arenal Volcano from any vantage point. Day 5: Arenal Volanco
This morning you’ll be collected for your half day guided Sky Tram and Sky Walk tour. You will reach the highest point of Arenal for wonderful views before beginning your Sky walk across an impressive mix of hanging bridges and old lava paths – make sure you bring your binoculars and camera! Later you’ll go on a gentle hike through the primal forest around the volcano and end with a visit to the volcanic thermal mineral pools. Bring your swimsuit and enjoy a soak in the mineral water. The perfect way to end your day!

Day 6: Arenal
Today you have a full day at leisure to explore this vast and extraordinary place. Whether you fancy more adventure and fun or just a slow-paced day, there is plenty on offer to keep you busy. You can kayak on Arenal lake that offers great views and wildlife spotting or perhaps we can arrange horse-riding trip to La Fortuna waterfalls, 70 meters high with a natural pool, perfect for an afternoon dip. For the wildlife lovers we can arrange a visit to Cano Negro wildlife refuge where you might spot sloths, monkeys, caimans and more. The choices here are endless.

Day 7: Arenal to Miravalles
This morning you’ll wave goodbye to Arenal and join your shared transfer to the area of Miravalles, in the north of Costa Rica, where you will spend 2 nights at Rio Perdido, “Lost River”. This eco lodge is hidden within dwarf forest and rocky canyon lands, only minutes walk away from a natural hot spring river that curves around the land of the property. We recommend going for a sunset hike to the lodge’s helipad where you can witness a sunset with views of three major volcanos. Watch the sky change colour from all shades of pink to red hot, this view is unmissable – a true sundowner moment! Ask us for advice on how to make the most of your time in Costa Rica.

Days 8: Miravalles
After your breakfast, you’ll join a group canyon adventure. You’ll test your adrenaline thresholds as you set off to conquer a sequence of ziplines over the beautiful Rio Blanco canyon – tarzan swings, challenge bridge, pendulum cables and more. This is a true Tico activity that is popular with children as well as adults. Once you finish enjoy the thermal pools at the property or walk to the natural hot spring river for a swim and perhaps even enjoy a natural volcanic mud spa. Day 9: Miravalles to Manuel Antonio
This morning you’ll be collected for your private transfers to the Nicoya Peninsula Coast. You will spend 4 nights at Punta Islita stunningly situated amid tropical gardens high above a long secluded beach on Costa Rica’s Pacific coast. Punta Islita is an laid-back boutique resort offering the perfect beach escape. And with 300 acres to explore, it also offers a number of different activities from zip-lining to horse-riding or you could swing in your hammock and just listen out for monkeys! Days 10 & 11: Punta Islita
Two full days at leisure to relax or play by the sea or explore the reserve! Swing in your hammock and listen to the surf, and take a quick dip in the infinity pool before breakfast. Or head down to the beach and enjoy the waves. Included in your stay are four free activities per person per day including visits to the local village, horse-riding though the forest or along the black volcanic sand beach, heading on a monkey safari, zip-lining through the forest canopy, guided sunrise walks through the forest, yoga, bird-watching hikes, painting, cookery and more. Day 12: Punta Islita to the UK
Following a final breakfast, you will be transferred back to San Jose where you will check in for your flight back to the UK
