Sundowner have designed four holidays for us so far, with a fifth planned for November. Our latest holiday was in Thailand and Cambodia, and we have also travelled to Tanzania, Japan and Madagascar with the company. Tour itinerary

Days 1 - 4:

UK to Chiang Rai (via Bangkok) and Mekong adventure

Fly overnight from the UK to Chiang Rai via Bangkok.

Upon arrival on day 2, you will be met and after a short transfer, settle in for a restful night with breakfast included at the secluded The Legend Chiang Rai Boutique Resort.

Early on day 3, you will be collected and driven to the Thai/Laos border at Huay Xai, where after you have cleared immigration, you will board the Shompoo Cruise. Drift down the Mekong and head to Pakbeng for a night with breakfast included at Le Grand Pakbeng, a jungle lodge with sweeping river views.

Enjoy a leisurely breakfast on day 4 before continuing to Luang Prabang. En route, you will stop at the Tam Ting Caves and the village of Ban Xang Hai to see traditional rice-whiskey making, before continuing on to Luang Prabang where you will stay for the next 3 nights with breakfast included at the tranquil, lily-pond-ringed Maison Dalabua. Spend the rest of the afternoon relaxing by the pool.

Days 5 - 8:

Waterfalls, temples & mountain vistas

This morning you will be collected to discover Luang Prabang’s former Royal Palace, Wat Mai, Wat Sensoukarahm, and ornate Wat Xieng Thong on a private half-day tour. Alternatively, you could visit the Laos Visitor Centre to learn about unexploded mines from the Vietnam War.

On day 6, head into the countryside to the turquoise Kuang Si Waterfalls, with time to swim or hike to the upper cascades, as well as a picnic lunch overlooking the waterfalls.

After a morning at leisure, on day 7 you will be taken to the station where you will board the high-speed train south to Vang Vieng for 2 nights with breakfast included at Riverside Boutique Resort. Spend day 8 at leisure exploring limestone karsts, hiking to Nam Xay Viewpoint, visiting the blue lagoon, or simply enjoying the riverside setting.

Days 9 - 15:

Flight to the vibrant city of Phnom Penh for cultural immersion

This morning you will be transferred to Vientiane airport where you will catch your flight to Phnom Penh, where on arrival you will be transferred to spend 3 nights at the peaceful Penh House with breakfast included.

You will be collected on day 10 for your private city tour, including stops at the Royal Palace and Silver Pagoda, National Museum, Wat Phnom, and the sobering Tuol Sleng Genocide Museum and Choeung Ek Killing Fields, with a free day on day 11 to stroll Sisowath Quay or take a sunset river cruise.

On day 12 you will be collected and transferred through rural landscapes to Siem Reap for 3 nights with breakfast included at Saem Siemreap Hotel.

Enjoy a tour of the Angkor complex on day 13, including Bayon, Ta Prohm, and mighty Angkor Wat, before a final free day to cycle the city, browse markets, or wander the French Quarter.

On day 15 you will be transferred to Siem Reap airport where you will catch your flight home via Bangkok.
