We had a brilliant time in Namibia. We saw loads of animals including a leopard in Damaraland which I think was quite unusual, and an aardvark at okonjima, something I’ve never seen before on quite a few safaris! We also saw some of the cheetah chasing a day old giraffe which was exciting! We loved kayaking with seals in Walvis Bay as well, the seals were hilarious. Thank you for your help, all of the tours were arranged perfectly and the hire car was great.

Very many thanks for arranging a fabulous holiday in Namibia. The evening meal overlooking the Namib desert under the stars, millions of them, was a highlight of our trip. In Damaraland, the views and sunsets were beautiful. We even managed to see a family of desert elephants on one of the excursions. Ongava in Etosha again met all our expectations and the game drives allowed us to see all the animals including the elusive Black Rhinos. Overall, we had a superb time.

Weather in Namibia

Namibia has a dry, desert climate with low humidity and abundant sunshine year-round. The country experiences two main seasons: a hot, rainy season and a cooler, dry season. Whether you’re exploring the towering dunes of Sossusvlei, spotting wildlife in Etosha National Park, or stargazing in the Namib Desert, understanding Namibia’s weather patterns will help you plan the perfect trip.

The Green Season (November–April): Rain Brings Life
During the green season, temperatures range from 25–35°C (77–95°F), with occasional thunderstorms, particularly in the north and central regions. The usually arid landscapes become lush and green, attracting migratory birds and newborn wildlife. While this is not the peak safari season, Etosha National Park remains a great spot for game viewing. Some remote roads can become difficult to navigate due to rain, but the stunning scenery and lower tourist numbers make it a rewarding time to visit.

The Dry Season (May–October): Prime Time for Travel
The dry season is the best time for safaris and outdoor adventures, with little to no rainfall and cooler temperatures (15–27°C / 59–81°F). Wildlife gathers around waterholes, making it easier to spot elephants, lions, and rhinos in places like Etosha. June to August can be chilly at night, especially in the desert, where temperatures can drop close to freezing. This season is also ideal for exploring Namibia’s famous landscapes, from the Skeleton Coast to the dramatic dunes of the Namib Desert.
