This 10 day Namibia Highlights Holiday takes you through dramatic landscapes, vast deserts and wild coastlines and then mixes in incredible wildlife viewing. Explore the Namib desert overwhelming in size and barren in appearance, stretching until it reaches the shadows falling from the mountainous ancient sand dunes of Sossusvlei. Journey north to Damaraland where large granite boulders obscurely perch on hill faces to then open on to vast open plains, littered with petrified trees between which desert-adapted elephants, black rhinos, and giraffe roam. Explore the Etosha salt pan, a shimmering white and green landscape in search for Namibia’s extraordinary adaptable wildlife, before ending this holiday relaxing in the Omaruru region overlooking vast plains with the Erongo mountains lining the distance. DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: UK to Windhoek
Fly overnight from the UK to Windhoek (via Johannesburg)

Day 2: Windhoek
On arrival into Windhoek you will collect your hire car and head to Ti Melen where you will spend one night in this luxurious but homely hotel. This afternoon you could walk the nearby Avis Dam Nature Reserve on relax and enjoy the beautiful views from your balcony.

Day 3: Windhoek to Namib Desert
This morning you will drive into the Namib Desert where you will be staying for 2 nights at Moon Mountain Lodge. This afternoon you could head into the Namib desert on a sundowner drive, tracking wildlife before finding the perfect spot to stop for refreshments watching the sun setting over this stunning wilderness. Day 4: Namib Desert
Head out early to Sossusvlei to explore the dunes, hike up Dune 45 or Big Daddy in time to witness the sunrise, before exploring Deadvlei and the Pertrified ancient trees. This afternoon you could go out on a game drive in search of wildlife or cool off in the pool and enjoy the stunning views across the desert, with the towering Sossusvlei dunes in the distance.

Day 5: Namib Desert to Swakopmund
Today you will leave the desert behind you as you head to Swakopmund where you will stay for 1 night at Cornerstone Guesthouse. Have this afternoon to explore this colonial German seaside town’s promenade. Want to slow the pace down, ask us to lengthen your stay. Call 01273 923100.

Day 6: Swakopmund to Damaraland
Today set off north, en route you could stop at Cape Cross to see the huge colonies of seals and the shells of ships that line the beach on Skeleton coast. You will continue on inland to Entendeka Mountain Camp where you will be staying for 2 nights in an en-suite tent with all meals and activities included. An owner-run tented retreat in a large private conservancy set in the foothills of the Grootberg Massif, Entendeka offers sublime views, fantastic staff and expert guiding around the area’s rich wildlife & geology.

Day 7: Damaraland
Entendeka is perfect if you love immense scenery and walking. There’s always the chance to see oryx, springbok and Hartmann’s mountain zebra, and even the occasional desert-adapted elephant, passing through. Activities range from incredibly informative nature and game drives to guided walks. The area is geologically stunning and you can follow a ‘quartz walk’, which is absolutely littered with remarkable quartzes. Excursions further afield include Crystal Mountain as well as visits to indigenous tribes in Otjitheka.

Day 8: Damaraland to Etosha National Park
Today you will head to Etosha Nature Reserve where you will stay for 1 night just outside the gates into the fantastic game viewing reserve, at Taleni Etosha Village. Have some time cooling off by the pool before heading out this afternoon on a Sundowner drive into the reserve in search of wildlife. After tracking game with a knowledgeable guide, you will head to the mountains where you will enjoy drinks and snacks whilst watching the sun fade. Day 9: Etosha Nature Reserve to Omaruru
As the sunrises, head out on a morning game drive, the ideal time to spot larger game whilst the temperature is still cool. After you will leave Etosha heading south to Onduruquea Guestfarm where you will spend 1 night. This evening you could head out for a night game drive before relaxing with a drink sat around the fire pit at the lodge.

Day 10: Etosha to UK
This morning you will drive back to Windhoek where you will return your hire car and head to the airport to check in for your flight back to the UK. (Via Johannesburg)

We had a great time in Namibia; it is absolutely stunning. In terms of stand out experiences, I think neither of us will forget driving down the Skeleton coast, along the endless salt road.  We thought it was incredibly eerie, but also spectacular. The flight from Swakopmund over the desert was also amazing. In Damaraland, the views and sunsets were beautiful. We even managed to see a family of desert elephants on one of the excursions. Ongava in Etosha again met all our expectations and the game drives allowed us to see all the animals including the elusive Black Rhinos. Overall, we had a superb time.

We had a brilliant time in Namibia. We saw loads of animals including a leopard in Damaraland which I think was quite unusual, and an aardvark at okonjima, something I’ve never seen before on quite a few safaris! We also saw some of the cheetah chasing a day old giraffe which was exciting! We loved kayaking with seals in Walvis bay as well, the seals were hilarious. Thank you for your help, all of the tours were arranged perfectly and the hire car was great.
