Perched on a valley-side overlooking the Ewaso Nyiro River, which cascades beneath the lodge all year round, Sabuk Lodge has six open fronted stone & thatched cottages with private verandas and stunning views as well as a family unit that has its own exclusive ‘mess area’ and plunge pool. As an added bonus some of the cottages have ‘star-beds’ as well as the normal bed inside, for when the weather is right there is nothing better than falling asleep under the sparkling African night sky.

Having run camel safaris for the past 25 years this is a true highlight of any stay at Sabuk and riding these dromedaries (single-humped camels) into the bush is a unforgettable experience that can be tailored to a half-day, full day and even an overnight adventure with a private camp in the heart of the Laikipia Plateau.

Located on a private concession you can also venture out on guided 4×4 game drives and expertly guided bush walks in search of the great wildlife in this area and highlights include the greater kudu, lion, leopard, elephant and the elusive African wild dog. Much closer to home guests can also stroll down to the river below the lodge for some hand-line fishing, rapid tubing, swimming and for the adventurous some rock jumping.

You may also find the animals come to watch you for a change as the last time James was at the lodge, they watched a leopard hunting in the valley opposite the lodge!
