DETAILED ITINERARY

Day 1: UK to Bangkok
Fly overnight from the UK to Bangkok.

Day 2: Bangkok
On arrival into Bangkok today, you will be met and transferred approx. 20 mins to the heart of Bangkok, where you will spend your first 3 nights at Ariyasom Villa. A wonderful heritage property located in a lush, leafy oasis with beautiful interiors, Ariyasom is in the perfect place to reach the tourist spots. Spend the rest of the day at leisure – welcome to Thailand!

Days 3 & 4: Bangkok
You will have two full days to explore Bangkok under your own steam! There is plenty to see and do, including temples such as Wat Pho and Wat Arun, visit the majestic Grand Palace, or hop on to a sunset cruise to see the city from the river. Stop at street food markets to try some delicious, authentic Thai dishes, or head to a flower market with vivid colours. There is also a pool at your hotel if you need to cool off with a swim! Keen to squeeze more into your trip? Contact us if you want to cut your time in Bangkok and add in a stop elsewhere.

Day 5: Bangkok to Kanchanaburi
This morning, you will be met and transferred approx. 3 1/2 hrs to Kanchanaburi where you will spend 3 nights at Hintok River Camp @ Hellfire Pass. Located on a picturesque stretch of the Kwai Noi River, Hintok River Camp features a natural spring pool and you can enjoy campfire dining in the evenings! You have the rest of the day to spend at your leisure – there are plenty of activities to take part in, such as mountain biking, ziplining and canoeing! Or, enjoy a dip in the pool.

Day 6: Kanchanaburi
You will be collected early this morning to enjoy a Full Day Tour of Kanchanaburi – visit the Railway Museum and the Thailand Burma Railway Centre Museum, and stop at the infamous ‘Bridge over the River Kwai’. Also included is a train ride on the ‘Death Railway’, built by prisoners of World War 2! After a full day of learning about the history of the area, you will head back to the hotel to relax.

Day 7: Kanchanaburi
Today is yours to spend at leisure! We recommend you visit Erawan National Park – hike along nature trails, marvel at the waterfalls, and take a dip in the emerald-green pools. Your hotel could arrange a trip on a longtail boat for you to cruise along the River Kwai, or visit the popular Lawa Cave, which is so big it hasn’t been fully explored yet! Or you could simply stay at the hotel and relax.

Day 8: Kanchanaburi to Chiang Mai
Enjoy a last morning at Hintok before you are met and transferred approx. 3 hrs to the Bangkok Railway Station so that you can board your overnight train to Chiang Mai. Settle in to your cabin and watch the views as they pass the window! Not sure if you want to spend the night on the train? Talk to us about alternative travel options.

Day 9: Chiang Mai
On arrival in to Chiang Mai station this morning, you will be met and transferred approx 10 mins to Tamarind Village where you will spend the next 2 nights. This secluded resort is a charming, boutique property where you will enjoy tranquil settings and genuine hospitality! You could head out this afternoon to explore Chiang Mai, or book in for a massage!

Day 10: Chiang Mai
Enjoy a morning at leisure. If you fancy a cultural experience, then Tamarind Village has activities available to book like flower garland making, umbrella painting and flag making, or join in on a village walk to take in some of the neighbourhood sites. This afternoon you will get a chance to cook some local dishes with a Private Cooking Class. You will head to a market to collect your ingredients before you start cooking – once the dishes are made you will get to sit down to eat and enjoy your hard work! Want to spend some more time in Chiang Mai? Speak to us about adding in another night.

Day 11: Chiang Mai to Rural Hill Country
Early this morning, you will be collected and transferred approx. 1 hr to Kanta Elephant Sanctuary to enjoy a day with these amazing animals – feed, bathe and play with them in a natural environment! After this incredible experience, you will be met and transferred approx. 10 mins to Lisu Lodge to stay for 2 nights. Amidst rice fields, Lisu Lodge is a community-based project that aims to conserve the natural heritage of hill tribes in Chiang Mai. Enjoy your new rural surroundings as you settle in this afternoon.

Day 12: Rural Hill Country
You will have the chance to enjoy the peace and serenity of the area today at your leisure. Maybe hire a bike to explore, visit a tea garden, go bamboo rafting, or for the adrenaline seekers, you could go white water rafting!

Day 13: Rural Hill Country to Krabi
After a leisurely morning, you will be transferred approx. 1 hr to Chiang Mai airport to check in for your domestic flight to Krabi. On arrival in to Krabi, you will be met and transferred approx. 50 mins to The Tubkaak Krabi Boutique Resort where your Thai adventure will end with 4 nights staying on the island! The Tubkaak borders one of Thailand’s most beautiful beaches and the sublime setting makes for an excellent base for a relaxing escape. Or if you ask us for a more secluded island stay if you prefer.

Days 14-16: Krabi
You have three full days to enjoy this stunning island! Your hotel offers paddleboarding and kayaks for hire, or there are yoga classes you can join in on. If you enjoyed the cooking class in Chiang Mai, then you can join in with another one here, or Krabi is a great place for island hopping. Grab a snorkel to check out the marine life, or simply spend some time relaxing on the white pristine sand. Keen to visit one of the islands? Contact us if you want to add in a stop before heading home.

The latest word on the street about Sundowner’s South East Asia holidays:

The tour we did was Vietnam and Cambodia and we had excellent guides who made the trip very memorable. Thank you for an amazing holiday.

Nicola Bamsey Vietnam

My friend and I have returned from a wonderful trip to Vietnam and Cambodia organised by Liam. The team on the ground, in both countries, were excellent- tour guides, drivers, hotel staff. All in all, a wonderful experience which we would both highly recommended.

Marion Lyons Vietnam

Vietnam was everything I hoped it would be – beautiful, vibrant, exciting and fascinating. And the use of knowledgeable local guides was invaluable. Everything was so well organised. Considering the logistics of us staying in 5 different places everyone was there to meet and greet us and take us to and from the different places. Absolutely faultless in every respect.

Lucy Pinington Vietnam

The local staff were utterly reliable and charming giving us an excellent and interesting insight into Vietnamese culture, from the vibrant culture in the cities to the peace and calm of the villages and rice fields.

Sam Dawson Vietnam

All aspects of this trip were amazing. The accommodation –  from 5* luxury to simple lodges in stunning idyllic settings. The guides – superb, super knowledgeable. The activities were different and insightful – talking with the villagers, cycling through the rice paddies, kayaking, the vespa tour. And the holiday went without a hitch – many thanks!

Anton Turner Vietnam
